NSCSS has received two inquiries in the last week from soil scientist owned firms seeking leads to qualified soil scientists.  Both firms are located in Western states.  Formal job descriptions have not been prepared yet.

NSCSS asks employers and recruiters what we can do to help them connect with our job seeking members in the market for employment. They never fail to suggest the same thing: post resumes of available members on our website. After rising steadily until May, 2009, private sector job opportunities for soil scientists drifted lower until the end of August, but not really that low. Since August soil science job listings have increased strongly, reaching a new high of 34 on October 27, 2009. Previously weak, the agricultural sector is gaining strength. Environmental sector listings are now as strong as anything we have seen in the past.
